Ladies and Gentlemen...
It's been a year, and you haven't thought about it since. So now I once again dredge up the past and make an annual event out of what was (as typical) pulled out of some poster's ass.

That's right...

The Dancing Banana Awards SPECTACULAR! (dancing bananas to be added later)

I say we give it a week or so to vote, and then we have our winnarz. In the meantime, in keeping with tradition, I have very little planned as far as categories, so you all get to vote on those, too!

I suggest the following categories (and nominees):

Funniest Poster
(Yeah...this one's tough, a cursory glance over posts gives the following namesSmile
Lucy
Myrrth Sicopath (for the work in the Vin Diesel thread)
BladeRunner

Most Remarkable
(While there's at least one obvious recipient, just naming yourself after a category doesn't get you an award)
TheRemarkableMan (Though I guess it gets you nominated, but I'll call that all the recordings you've provided)
Ishmael (Hardly Dangerous!)

Best Moderator
Brant
Bladerunner

That's all I've got for now, but again, feel free to suggest your own categories and nominees - this post was done in haste while I had a few minutes before classes and such. Also, I wasn't sure it belongs in Thrilling Conversations, but hey, it's board related.

Let the voting begin!

I ain't afraid of no rolly-coaster.

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen...

Awesome!

Personally, I think this contains the funniest post I've ever read. But I assume if these awards include the old boards then we've got quite a lot of searchin' to do.

The one I'm talking about is Aaron's second post. It's genius!

CAUTION: Over the weekend, a short psychic escaped from police custody.
He is to be considered a small medium at large.

We at the Dancing Banana comission (that'd be me, I guess) feel that all the history of the boards are valid for admission into the contest. Vote for whatever you feel is appropriate.

I ain't afraid of no rolly-coaster.

I Suggest: "Quality, not quantity" award, given to Danger Boarders who post not as much as the rest of us junkies. Basically no one in the top 10 for # of posts is eligible. As of my post here, you have to have less than 195 posts as of today to be eligible, and your posts have to be meaningful and ALWAYS contribute to discussions, tangentially or otherwise.

Nominations:
Island Of Doubt
Gimpy Joe
Damien 82
Uncle Grandfather

I also nominate the amazing DChris for The Most Remarkable (which I think should really be called "The Kipper"), remember the auction? All that logistics-ing doesn't come easy. And it is still stickied!

Wow, I forgot all about the auction - I can definately support dchris for the Kipper (I like that).

Also, just as a point of order, the band members, despite being very well loved, shouldn't be eligable for the quality award. Boardies over band members.

Further categories:

I don't have any good ideas for nominees, but I'm certainly open to suggestions.

Best Single Post/Guest Post
Mr. Heston
Barny
Weezer

Where'd you go? Award
For those that we loved, but disappeared. I'll let you guys at this one.

Also, did we ever determine if people's titles could be changed on an individual basis? If so, maybe we could give them titles for winning dancing bananas. Just a thought.

Yeah, dear moderator(s), could that sticky go away?

Oh, wait. Board awards. Yay. I think I won last year for getting punched in the face. All in the name of HD.

I think our #1 poster should get a banana for his persistence. That's LSJ, innit?

* You have no idea how delightful it was to my linguist brain to go back and see that I really typed that sentence.

**source. Now, I didn't really say anything at the time because I didn't want to escalate that ridiculous conversation any further than it had already gone at that point, but... when one of your only posts to the dangerboard is to tell us what you think the dangerboard "rule of thumb" should be, please shut up and go away.

Wow, I'm nominated... kind of... well still, big surprise. I think we should have a "Most Grammatically Correct" category. And of course, I nominate myself, because I'm an ass, and because I have such 1337 typing skillz!!!1!1!!1!!!11oneone!!!eleven

Gotta get up, gotta get out, gotta get home before the morning comes.
