Among the songs on this sketchy-quality but basically audible VHS tape of a live show at the long-defunct OK Hotel from HD's ur-days:

Flagpole Sitta (first public performance, acoustic guitar, no chorus lyrics)
Less Than 12 Parsecs
Carjack Fever (original, slo-core style)
Liddsville Lunchbox
Goin' Out West (Tom Waits cover)
Foot-Controlled Activator (proto-Defrocked, longest song in history)

Among other dubious treats. My hair looks awesome. I have one earring in my left ear and a Sebadoh t-shirt on my back. Jeff is wearing a black turtleneck, tucked into jeans. Aaron looks basically unchanged. Evan is usually obscured from view. We are babies.

Put that in your pipes.

To tell us about this, and not share, would be so cruel.

i wouldnt dare dream of defying sean, but i must agree.. especially so close to christmas time - a time for giving. however, i would gladly watch you 'give' us such a treat for a reasonable price. if there was a ghetto bootleg dvd of this, id gladly pay 20 dollars, at least.

I'd like to get my hands on that! C'mon Sean, where's your Christmas spirit?

Pray to the God that you don't quite believe in

Buddy, that sounds like a glorious holiday gift for us. <3

Or, what Todd said: Treehouse? FareStart? The SCN Charitable Foundation For the Preservation of SCN? Name your price and we'll work it out among ourselves. (You know that's true, even if hoarding it was your original plan.)

Or, what innerturmoil said: I can do a quick turnaround on VHS to whatever-digital-format. Not YouTube, I imagine, but something apropos. Let me know and I'll PM you my mailing address.

(I think we finally solved Dining Car last week. All things considered, we loved it in the end. Depending on how bad this tape's audio actually is, we could cheerfully spend 2009 solving these songs.)

Not to diminish the excitement about all the other goodies (12 parsecs, I especially have wanted to hear for years), but does this first public performance of Flagpole Sitta include any of the seven unpublished verses?
