Dining Car
"Scar Tissue" and "Ignore Me" had their own threads, but "Dining Car" did not.

Scottique: TV Guide, Killjoy. Something something.

This is the best I can do before bed:

No that's not a book in your hand
It's TV Guide
You're well read
And it makes me red
Yeah it makes me red

In a car to dine
Car to dine
Make the multitude
In a scene
Turn red in the face
You ironic killjoy

I die alone
Your pop culture brain is so dead
But it makes me red
Yeah it makes me red

In a car to dine
Car to dine
Make the multitude
In a scene
Turn red in the face
You ironic killjoy

Was there ever a lyric sheet?

Re: Dining Car
JFH and I have picked this to death, and this is my honest best effort. I recognize full-well that large chunks of it have to be misheard bullshit. The moral of the story is, if you don't want idiots mishearing your words as "kitten framework" and "this party's all on the carpet" fourteen years after you write them, don't mumble.

"The presumption of knowing what a person thinks and feels simply because you know their music is a big part of being a fan. It's also why artists frequently go crazy." --SCN, Court and Spark

Feminine heartbreak
Could lead on a slapstick guitar
Still wouldn't be with me in deep grits

Kitten framework working your hands
The path that you're saying
You fall ready in; you feel them
And it makes me red

If I were a boxer, a loner
This party's all on the carpet
Sell the car, friend

If you're gonna seek, I won't bother to hide
No that's not a book in your hand
It's TV Guide
You're well read
And it makes me red
Yeah it makes me red

In a car to dine
Car to dine
Make the multitude
In a scene
Turn red in the face
You ironic killjoy

Stop your cards, in razzed inflection
Somehow libraries your autograph collection
Countless

The vesseled privilege looks like a train
I die alone
Your pop culture brain is so dead
But it makes me red
Yeah it makes me red

In a car to dine
Car to dine
Make the multitude
In a scene
Turn red in the face
You ironic killjoy

[guitar solo and heavy breathing]

In a car to dine
Car to dine
I could close my eyes but it'd feel so wrong
Before I just go blind as you
You can't help but having behind you
Out of hall as black as overshadows you
Turn red in the face
YOU IRONIC KILLJOY.

Maybe JFH and I are in our own cracked little world on this, but...

Scottique: Y'know how those College Humor kids did the Flagpole Sitta lip-dub?
Scottique: This song would be SO FUNNY to do the same way.
Scottique: In parody, because the words are IMPOSSIBLE. And yet I find myself singing along with my broke-down, busted lyrics.
JohnnyFootballHero:: Oh, of "Dining Car"? I love it!
Scottique: The only problem is, it's basically impossible. We're the only people who know it.
JohnnyFootballHero:: And even we don't really.
JohnnyFootballHero:: I love it.
JohnnyFootballHero:: Let's do it.
Scottique: We'll need.... like, as many iPods as possible, and a way of transferring the songs. Or a boombox. You know who would be totally willing to lipdub the hell out of anything we put him on? Myles.
JohnnyFootballHero:: Well, sure! Although he seems very inhibited.
JohnnyFootballHero:: I'm sure after enough cocktails, we could get a small roomful of people shouting, "I'm on a kill joy!"
JohnnyFootballHero:: "I'm gonna kill Joy!"
Scottique: "I'd like to kill Joy!"
JohnnyFootballHero:: "You wanna kill Joy?"
Scottique: "Let's effing kill Joy!"
JohnnyFootballHero:: "We effing killed Joy! And it maaakes me glad!"

GUYS. WE HAVE TO DO A LIP DUB.

Friday midday, after Top Pot. Meet at Top Pot at 10:15 AM for breakfast, and we'll figure it out from there. Try to learn the song beforehand, or not. All are invited. We have never been more serious about anything in our entire lives.

The mid-morning lip dub may be inhibited by a lack of EtOH consumption...unless we have mimosas with our donuts?

But I suppose I'm down anyway :)

I'm fairly certain I just peed myself I laughed so hard.

I'm suddenly questioning my HD nerdom. I'm so not this hardcore.

We actually will need a boom box to do this. Thinking it through, taking a bunch of iPods and going, "One, two, three, PLAY!" is not going to work. :-)

Does anybody in Seattle have a boom box? Y'know, 1994, D-sized batteries, CD goes in the top? I actually looked on Seattle's craigslist, and found 'em for $10 - $20, but would prefer not to try to purchase a freaking boom box on Friday morning before Top Pot (and then figure out what to do with it afterwards).

So Seattle, I've got the camera, and I can burn the CD. Who's bringing the boom box?

But, but, this is the worst Harvey Danger song ever! Wink

Pray to the God that you don't quite believe in
To bless this fleeting moment
Yeah, YEAH, YEAH!

True. Actually there are worse, but all recorded evidence has been destroyed.

So, that means that TRM is definitely in, and we have Aaron's blessing, jacked-up lyrics and all. Right? ...right?

(It's only funny because we only know maybe 40% of the lyrics. If "Dining Car" as a YouTube video truly stresses out the band, we can do something different.)

I can get a boom box. I know, I know, I'm amazing. You can all thank me later.
