TRM Wrote:Where do we have "Creative Differences" from?

I don't know but it was an awesome song live! (It was not an "Awesome" song, but I am pretty sure there was an entire set worth of those shortly following Mr. Nelson's delightful set.)

And from whence comes Ski Lift Incident?

Also: I am hearing that Kicking Me Out line as Keith, Curt, John, Richard, Lou and Eliot

Was Eliot Smith a noted drug user? I do not know.

"Ski Lift Incident" is the first track on Ceci n'est pas une tour ep, the solo/Mortal Enemies EP sold on Sean's last go-round with Robyn Hitchcock. "Hey, Millicent!" is also on there.

You guys rock with the corrections. <3

Anyone Can Get Anyone To Do Anything

Anyone can get anyone to do anything
It doesn't mean anything
Anyone can get anyone to do anything
It doesn't mean anything
I heard about a priest
Who commanded his whole flock
To amputate and eat their own legs, right down to the sock
And when they said:
"But Father, that's both painful and grotesque"
He said: "Offer up your earthly burden, our God is the best!
And something is worth doing all the way if it's worth doing"
His words were drowned out by the sounds of chewing, chewing
Anyone can get anyone to do anything
It doesn't mean anything
I lived under a President who thought he was a king
He reckoned "if they vote for me, they'll swallow anything!"
He introduced a bill that said the rich could hunt the poor,
And guess what? We don't even need a license anymore.
Debate raged on between House Democrats and Republicans
Would it be more humane to use crossbows or shotguns?
Anyone can get anyone to do anything
It doesn't mean anything
A seasoned campaign manager on what conviction means
"It isn't what it is," she said, "it's only what seems.
Like if you feign concern about what people think is true
It could not matter less what you believe, think, feel, or do"
Her theory was supported by projections, polls and quotes
"You haven't heard the best part" she said, "no one votes!"
Anyone can get anyone to do anything
It doesn't mean anything
Anyone can get anyone to do anything
It doesn't mean
It doesn't mean anything

Pray to the God that you don't quite believe in
To bless this fleeting moment
Yeah, YEAH, YEAH!

Wikipedia says yes; however, I'd be inclined to look solely at people who were part of supergroups, or at the very least, the sorts of people who worked/partied with all of their contemporaries. I have to think that Keith is Keith Moon, and that Lou is Lou Adler; if Elliott could be Elliott Smith then Curt could be Kurt Cobain, also a drug user, but my gut instinct says no to those two. As to John and Richard, they could be anybody (including half the Beatles), damned common names.

Then again, I own this shirt, so I'm excluding myself as an authority here.

I want that shirt.

My first thoughts were Smith and Cobain, also.

Or probably Lou Barlow (indeed, he was kicked out a band that he started up!), and the HD guys, Sean espeically, are noted fans.

Oooh, good call!

(I saw the Sebadoh reunion tour last year. It was tragic, but not in a "a little greatness to begin with" way, more in a "is there anybody in the house who's feeling this?" way. It was on Easter Sunday, and the band was tired, and the crowd was older and self-conscious and thinking about paying the babysitter. Lack of energy fed lack of energy on both sides, and I would literally not have been surprised had they stopped midway through the set and said, "You know what? Forget it. This isn't worth it." All that said, though, Lou Barlow is still pretty effing adorable.)

Back to Exile on Baker Street:

There are only a few lines I have that are different from yours:

johnnyfootballhero Wrote:I'm waiting for a frozen cube
Of airline waste to come crashing through
I'm waiting for a frozen Cuba
They'll all wait to come crashing through

(But, that doesn't make any sense...)

I also hear will the center fall, rather than hold, but hold would be more logical.

I also think it might be you give me disease, rather than the keys. I have a history of mistakenly hearing "disease" in songs where it doesn't belong. Also, might it be: ...or else?

Pretty sure it's frozen cube/airline waste, in reference to the urban legend about a guy being killed by a falling block of frozen urine jettisoned from a plane.

I think perhaps it refers to Lou Reed? Given he's quite well known for a long history of drug use. Keith could just as easily be Richards as well as Moon, I suppose. (Hello everyone!)

Hullo everyone!
This is my first post : )

The only songs I have by Sean's various side projects are the ones I've managed to find on myspace... how do I go about completing my collection? Is there some place where they're all gathered together? I'm apparently missing a lot of HD b-sides too.

Anyway, I do have "Kicking Me Out of the Band" and I believe that Kieth is Kieth Moon, Kurt is Kurt Cobain, John is John Entwistle, Lou is Lou Barlow, and Elliott is Elliott Smith. Don't know about Richard...
