Demo Tape
This is supposed to be a discussion thread for the demo tape, but if you have not heard the demo tape, spoiler info is more like it. Read on at your own risk, mortal!

* * *

1. Love Bug

The catchiest song here. The song here that foreshadows the success of "Flagpole Sitta." My least favorite song here. Has a neurotic charm to it but lends credence to the whole "if Green Day were smart" thing. I like it, but I like everything else more.

2. Scar Tissue

Now we're cooking. One of two Pumpkin-flavored rockers here, finally at the right speed. Hard to dislike the whole "scenester with a secret" thing, even if they cut out the part where she offs herself. Barlow solo!

3. Dining Car

Without the static, this rocks. Good bridge between two radio-friendlier songs, and intentional or not, the rhythm is rather train-like. Good luck figuring out the lyrics.

4. Bonus

Could've sworn this was faster than the original, but it's 0:34 longer. Nice. Noisy. New wave.

5. Ignore Me

The more serious fraternal twin brother of "Scar Tissue," this would have been a good debut single. It has structure, suspense, even a Devo reference. The best original song here.

6. Heroine with an E

The precursor to "Defrocked," this would be right at home on King James Version. 8:42 bass monster with deeply depressing lyrics about diacetylmorphine addiction. Worth $380.

Seconded, but my opinion will be written off as "the ramblings of the out of touch old guy",
who thought "Indie-Rock" was slang for "Indian Rock Music"...

As an American I'm with PT on this one. Our British friends would probably more likely side with LW.

So if you're referring to one band, isn't it always singular, as in:
"Green Day" has intelligence
"The Long Winters" has intelligence
I don't know, this may be a bit above my head....and Spanish is definetly...
I took German, the notoriously easy language class at my school, 3 years later and I can say "Auf Wiedersehen" and not much else

I took German as well, and all I still have is "affe" (monkey) or "Ich heisse Grosse Katze" literally translating to mean "I am called Big Cat"

Disembodied ringlets from hair that looks like Carrie Underwood's.
