The Merc, Max & The Kids
Mercury Lounge (Sat)

After being once again decieved by the infamous and elusive 1/9 Train,
I still made it to "The Merc" early enough to meet 3 co-workers that I invited to the show,
and have a Godzilla-sized pastrami sammidge at the world-famous Katz Deli, next door..

Corey's a drinking buddy, who enjoys text-messaging and Smallville...

Ed's too quiet, and he roots for the Oakland A's, with no valid reasons...

Jill is a brunette, who's been giving guys the "Heisman" stiffarm for years,
yet complains that she's lonely...

I finish my Black Cherry soder, and we head off to a bar, since it's still early...
We watch the Yanks get EEEE-liminated!!!!
A bachlorette party's getting too loud, so we go to "The Library" next door...
It boasts the best jukebox in all of NYC...

Cynical meets me there, after attending the Philly show...
A few drinks and we're all off to the Merc...

I meet Aaron, and his wife, buy merch, and prepare for seeing a great show...

I ask who's board memebers...
Prophet's there...
Malacid's there, with a squid...
KIDDING!!!!
Fainted's there, all the way from WI and we share Croc memories...
The girl who tattooed "Same As Being In Love" lyrics to her arm is there...

Ra-Ra-Riot KILLS S.M.D. with thier set....

The pensive anticipation builds, as I await HDanger....

It was an excellent set, and some 7foot guy from WI yells for "Defrocked"...
Seans spins stageward, and looks to the band for their approval...
Jeff starts playing, and the rest is history...

Sean did thank "The Old Guard" before the end of the show,
and we talked for a few moments...

Worst of all, after traveling from Philly to see HDanger again,
Cynical had to leave before HD went on,
due to the need for public transportation home...

My friends missed most of the show, caring for Jill,
who had misjudjed her alcoholic capacity,
and barfed all over Corey....
This, however did not make Jill any less sexy, in Ed's reddened eyes...

I got home at 6am...

I got up at 930 am...
I drove to Giants Stadium...
The Giants won, I only wished they'd scored more TD's...
Osi did not rough the passer....

I pick up my 3 kids, and we drive to Hoboken....
All in our HDanger garb....

My oldest, Jay, has a gift for Sean...
The kids are already arguing over which song is better...
I decide the winner of a 3way tie...

We get to the venue, and Sean says hello to everyone who greets him...
Fainted is there again with a huge bottle of Hypno...

Jay gives Sean a picture of himself, and Sean,
(I'm positive this is grammaticaly incorrect)
standing together onstage, at last years Vera show,
that was drawn by his art teacher, from a photo...

Sean laughs and thanks Jay...

YAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!
It's a Pirate band!!!!
Cap'n Bogg & Salty!!!
I'd never seen anything like it....

S.M.D.
I really didn't think there were So Many Dynamoes,
that a fuss needed to be made over them...
2 guitars, drums, and 2 Korgs...
What was the big deal???
I also thought that the singers comments about HD weren't called for...
"Hope we get to tour with them again, when they reunite in 8 yrs"...

The 4 of us got up front, and HDanger gave us a hell of a show...
I loved "Picture" and the Bowie cover...
They finished with a raucous version of "Flagpole", and it was all over...

I know I'm getting old...
Although I was standing up front for both shows,
I was too slow to get a set list for either show...

Afterwards, Jeff said he felt old, after meeting the kid he called at home on his 4th birthday...
Mike gave drumsticks to all of the boys...
Jay got autographs from band memebers and anyone else who would sign for him...
I got a photo of my 3 boys with the whole band...

They thanked me endlessly...
Hopefully in 10yrs:
When Blaze is 16, and Jay is 21...
They'll look back on this and remember with enough joy and love,
to NOT wanna tell me to go fuck myself
when I don't let them have the car for the night...

Those were two great shows, and it was great to meet you and Cynical. Wish I could've met the others.

And it's cool, my dad called him a squid too

He told me to call you a Devil Dog.

Never let pain stop you from doing something you want. . . Never let pride stop you from doing something you should.

I hate using the term "Cock-blocked",
but Ed was so drunk I literally had to block his actual cock....
Deee-sgusting!!!!

Also, for whomever's keeping track:

I was denied "Greatest Living Dancer" for 4 shows in a row, by Sean...
(Croc, Vera, Merc, Max)
I was denied "Elvis" for 3...

The NY Giants are UNDEFEATED on days where I've attended a HDanger show the prior evening...
(Broncos '05, 'Skins '06)

Have we just taken to ignoring crazy?

And there you go, I've created a temporal paradox. A minor one, I hope.
