Remarkable, would you be my new governor?

Is there?

I lost my All Access mp3s, so this is great! I remember the interview, though. Plus, new old stuff! Many thanks.

I just wanted to give you all some new extremely old track to decipher the lyrics from (let Dining Car die!). So who wants to start with the early "Medley" lyrics?

Pray to the God that you don't quite believe in
To bless this fleeting moment
Yeah, YEAH, YEAH!

a mallard victim time holds its sway
this ever stalls you says that's the laughable way
once you've had bad credit you never forget you had it
this extra skin that i carry around
top part of me is just something i found
some gridlock had your sister on the ground

game over.

What the hell happened to "Carlotta Valdez" a couple songs later? This is ...atrocious to the point of parody. I don't even understand what's going on. Was somebody throwing beer bottles at Aaron and Jeff through this song? Did TRM do something sabotagey in the recording process? I am genuinely confused.

You guys are really good at that dance where you jump up and down. Not sure what that's called, but you guys are really good at it.

So, did that kid's neck actually break? Oh, he must have been crowd surfing. So, this next song is untitled, but we call it "The Medley."

Mike!

Now the big time
Time holds its sway
Cause if it stalls you
That's the laughable way
Once you had bad credit
You never forget you had it

This extra skin that I carried around
It's not part of me
It's just something I found
Some gridlock had your sister underground

Fore!

Oh, it's not over yet. There's a reason this song is called "The Medley."

I tend to forget when I drink
I'm doing it again, I think
A hand to hold
An ego to flatter
Cause you were the wineskin
I was the bladder

Time passes, and events fall away
I don't think they'll hurry up
Hurry up, I'm blacking out
High on the vapor
Cause I was the typo
You were the Liquid Paper

Talk it over
Talk it, overtalk it
The answer's still the same
It's discontent, humiliation
Cause you were the theme and
I was the variation

Try to take a less dramatic
Course of action
This attraction, introspection
Diction, prediction
Breaking my heart again
Breaking my heart

This is the best parking lot we've ever played in Chicago, and that's a true fact.

I remember that show being pretty bad. It was hot, the crowd couldn't have cared less (pretty typical for one of those big outdoor radio station-sponsored shows), there were technical issues, etc. But I'm sure it at least sounded a little better in person than those recordings do...

i THINK it was:

maledicta
time holds its sway
december stalls you, says "that's a laughable way"
oh, once you've had bad credit, you'll never forget you had it

this extra skin that i carry around
it's not part of me—it's just something i found
some gorilla had your sister on the ground

again, it has been a long time... the song was later split and (over)written as "this is the thrilling conversation you've been waiting for" and, more effectively, "the same as being in love."

see, it was a medley of two songs that didn't yet exist. BRILLIANT!!
